Trump trails Biden by eight points in the polls
With less than two months to go before America votes in a presidential election, Republican Donald Trump trails his Democrat rival Joe Biden by eight points.
Trump, the most divisive president in modern history, is already trying to cast doubt about the validity of the November 3 contest, with baseless claims about postal ballot fraud. And this week he has been urging supporters to vote twice in violation of electoral law.
With many traditional Republicans turning against him, Trump has increasing appealed to his core supporters by attacking the Black Lives Matter movement and defending gun-toting white vigilantes - making a mockery of his "law and order" slogan.
An eight-point lead in the polls isn't insurmountable so expect more twists and turns in the coming weeks as Trump becomes increasingly desperate to hang on to the White House.
