There’s no denying that doing a load of laundry can be a total drag. From separating your dirty laundry pile into multiple loads, having to hand-wash select pieces and then, having your towels only dry halfway in your dryer. Laundry is never a great time, but we love a good life hack when it comes to household drudgery.
Thanks to Amazon’s Best Sellers lists, we have found a super affordable laundry product that will help cut down on your dry time while also softening and fluffing your clothes: Meet the Wool Dryer Balls by Smart Sheep.
Shop: Wool Dryer Balls by Smart Sheep 6-Pack, $14.40 (Orig. $16.95)
These all-natural dryer balls (that come six to a set) are made of 100 percent wool to help soften your laundry and cut down on static, so you can take harsh chemical softeners and dryer sheets out of your laundry room for good! This isn’t a one-and-done kind of product — according to the product description, “one dryer ball can be used in over 1,000 loads and can last 2-4 years.”
When you toss a few of these balls into your dryer along with your wet clothes, they help to break up any heavy clothes, towels or sheets — that tend to stick together — so they can dry properly. Not to mention, the wool can also suck out the water and condensation from inside your dryer and improve the airflow, helping to cut down on the total dry time. The brand suggests using three balls for small loads and up to five or six for larger loads.
These dryer balls have over 41,000 ratings on Amazon and are a clear customer favorite, seeing as they have been given 4.6 out of 5 stars.
One Amazon reviewer shared that they were “impressed that they cut my drying time on towels from 180 minutes to 80 minutes.” Another happy user said, “My towels and jeans are the softest than they have ever been. I use to have issues with sheets and jeans twisting up this has stopped some of that.”
However, since these dryer balls are made of real sheep’s wool, and there are no added scents or perfumes, some customers weren’t a fan of the fragrance-free product. For those customers, plastic dryer balls (like these from S&T Inc.) may be a better fit.
If you’re interested in trying out these dryer balls from Smart Sheep you can snag a pack on Amazon for under $15. But if you’d like to check out a few more wool options, Handy Laundry and SnugPad also have great ratings and are both available now on Amazon.
