Porsche and Boeing join forces to build electric flying taxi

Porsche and Boeing have revealed they're going to work together to build an electric flying taxi.

The German car company said the airline manufacturer and its subsidiary Aurora Flight Sciences will develop a prototype flying for the vehicle.

Engineers from both firms will work alongside each other to develop the airborne taxi.

"This collaboration builds on our efforts to develop a safe and efficient new mobile ecosystem and provides an opportunity to investigate the development of a premium urban air mobility vehicle with a leading automotive brand," a Boeing executive told CNN.

"We are combining the strengths of two leading global companies to address a potential key market segment of the future," says Detlev von Platen, a member of the Porsche board in charge of sales and marketing. "In the longer term, this could mean moving into the third dimension of travel."
