During the 1980s a village in Norway was left puzzled and alarmed by strange pulsing lights in the sky. The lights, which were observed in a 7.5 mile-long (12 km) stretch of the Hessdalen valley in rural central Norway, were fast-moving and multicoloured - appearing in different shapes and at unusual times.

The lights have appeared at all times of the day and night floating through the valley. But the phenomenon gets even weirder, with the glowing balls displaying unusual behaviour and speeds.

Unusual lights have been reported in the region since the 1930s and activity was reportedly high between December 1981 and mid-1984, with the strange orbs observed 15–20 times per week - attracting many overnight tourists who arrived in for a sighting.

As of 2010, the number of observations has dwindled, with only 10 to 20 sightings made yearly. but now scientists think they have an explanation, which will certainly disappoint UFO enthusiasts.
