Sasha Obama 'all grown up' in viral prom photos: 'Beautiful young lady'

Photos of Sasha Obama, the daughter of Barack and Michelle Obama, at her senior prom went viral over the weekend, and Twitter can't stop gushing about how gorgeous she looked.

The 17-year-old, who will graduate from Sidwell Friends in June, donned a simple black satin slip dress with a high slit and paired it with a silver necklace and matching hoop earrings. She finished off the look with strappy black heels and long white nails.

Her date opted for a classic black tux to match his date for the evening.

In pictures that were shared on Twitter by her date's older cousin, the adorable couple is all smiles as they pose in someone's garden for a pre-prom photo shoot. In one of the photos, Sasha and her date pose with older sister, Malia, 20, and a young boy who could presumably be his little brother.

Another snap shows Michelle posing with Sasha's date's mother, with what looks to be a Secret Service agent standing in the background.

"My favourite part about Sasha Obama's prom pics is the casual Secret Service Agent in the background," someone remarked about the photo.

After the pictures started to spread online, Twitter users said that Sasha "grew up to be a beautiful young lady" and couldn't believe how much she's evolved since entering the public eye at the start of her father's first term as President of the United States.

"Sasha Obama in 2009 and on prom night 2019," someone wrote alongside a prom photo and a photo from her dad's 2009 inauguration. "She's all grown up."

"I feel like a big brother watching my little sister go to the prom," another person tweeted. "Sasha Obama is such a beauty. And shout out to the simplicity of her dress."

Others hilariously used the moment to make a joke about Barack Obama and Joe Biden sizing up Sasha's date for her senior prom.

Page Six reported back in December that Sasha is rumoured to be heading to the University of Michigan next year, though her college choice has not been publicly confirmed. Older sister, Malia, went to Harvard in 2017 after taking a gap year, during which she interned at The Weinstein Company in New York City.
