Why do aeroplane windows have tiny holes?

The tiny holes in your aeroplane window are there for your safety.

Known as the breather hole or bleed hole, it's present only in the middle window pane. It helps to protect the inner window from breaking while allowing lower air pressure from outside on the outer window pane and the higher cabin pressure on the inner pane to be held in balance.

It also prevents windows from getting foggy so you can enjoy the view from 40,000 feet.
