Lucky man finds pearl in oyster at restaurant

A New Jersey man got more than he ordered during a recent lunch outing at a famous New York City seafood restaurant.

When he examined it more closely, Rick Antosh realised he found a pearl in the oysters he ordered. It happened at the famed Oyster Bar in New York's Grand Central Terminal. Mr Antosh was having lunch with a friend and ordered his usual £10 stew-like dish that includes six oysters.

The 66-year-old told the New York Post that he felt an object rolling around his mouth after taking a mouthful.

"For a fraction of a second, there was terror," he told the Post. "Is it a tooth? Is it a filling?"

"When I saw the black dot, it really intrigued me ... is this something that broke off a utensil in the kitchen?"

A chef at the restaurant told him this is the second time a guest has found a pearl in an oyster in the last 28 years.
