Fresh from his divorce from actress Amber Heard, the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star has topped the annual Forbes poll, thanks to the lacklustre returns from his most recent releases, including the blockbuster 'Alice Through the Looking Glass'.

Experts have worked out that he returned just $2.80 at the box office for every $1 he was paid, earning him first place on the list.

Will Smith claims the number two spot with a $5 return on every $1 he received in salary, after failing to excite movie-goers with his real-life sporting drama 'Concussion' and crime film 'Focus'.

The Forbes top five is rounded out by Channing Tatum, Will Ferrell and George Clooney, after moderate takings for his movies 'Hail, Caesar!', 'Money Monster', and 'Tomorrowland'.
