After a six year reign as Chancellor of the Exchequor, George Osborne was ousted from his seat in government by Theresa May and replaced by former Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Philip Hammond.

Osborne isn't the only casualty of the cabinet re-shuffle, with other major MPs including Michael Gove and Nicky Morgan loosing their place in cabinet.

So, as Osborne returns to the back benches to watch on as Hammond takes over his role, we take a look at some of his most memorable moments as Chancellor.

1. May 2010
Osborne was appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer.

2. June 2010
The new Chancellor delivers his emergency Budget to the House of Commons, he said: "It pays for the past and it plans for the future."

3. March 2012
Osborne is forced to answer questions in the Treasury Select Committee about VAT charges on hot food, including the price of a pasty in Greggs.

4. May 2015
Visits the set of Star Wars and says: "The new Star Wars movie is going to be made in the UK, Episode VIII, is going to create 3,000 jobs which is what happens when you have an economic plan that's working and a film making industry with real skills and talent."

5. July 2015
Announces new National Living Wage. He says: "We will set it to reach £9 an hour by 2020 and the new National Living Wage will be compulsory."

6. October 2015
Osborne promotes American football in the UK, hosting NFL stars at Downing Street.

7. November 2015
George Osborne executes a u-turn on planned cuts to tax credits. He said: "I've listened to the concerns, I hear and understand them and because I've been able to announce today and improvement in the public finances the simplest thing to do is not to phase the changes in, but to avoid them all together."
