The National Trust is offering the tenancy of a £1 million farm for just £1 a year to a farmer who will help protect its rare and fragile landscape.

William Greenwood, General Manager at the National Trust, explains that last year Parc Farm was put up for sale and the National Trust stepped in.

This was because there was a risk that it was going to be bought by an insensitive developer who maybe would have turned the area into a golf course or something similar.

Mr Greenwood added: "Parc Farm comes with grazing rights for the rest of the Great Orme, and the rest of the Great Orme is a habitat of outstanding international significance, it's one of the most important sights in the whole of the country - possibly internationally."

A love of conservation in everything they do would also be an important quality in the new owner.

Mr Greenwood added: "I think they're going to need a fundamental understanding of how all that comes together, and how they can work with that to make something great out of the sum of the parts."

He described how the unusual situation came about, saying: "It is a unique sight, it's a unique problem. We've come up with a unique solution to meet all those things."

Mr Greenwood went on to say how he looks forward to meeting the person that comes to the rescue of this beautiful location.
