A British man is missing in Peru after he went to visit a mountain more than a week ago.

Harry Greaves, 29, told friends on April 7 that he wanted to spend the day by himself on a mountain but he failed to appear when they expected to see him the next day.

He was in Peru to visit friends in Pisac before heading to the jungle with a group.

The Lucie Blackman Trust, which works to support Britons in distress abroad, said a thorough search was made of the area he was visiting but he has not been found.

Mr Greaves turned 29 on April 9.

The Trust says that he is very practical and self-reliant, and while he may have decided to explore another area than previously planned, concern is mounting for Harry's safety and wellbeing.

His sister Ellen told the BBC: "We're trying to stay positive but it's so worrying. He's loved by so many people and we just want to know what's happened."

She added that during his trip he had emailed his family twice to say that he was enjoying his travels.

"It's very out of character for him to be out of touch for so long," she said.
