Homeowner takes revenge on commuter parking on her drive

An East Sussex homeowner got so cross with commuters parking on her drive that when she got the chance for revenge, she seized it.

Julie Geue, 48, lives opposite busy Farmingham railway station, and says she's had strangers parking on her drive without permission for years.

It was all the more annoying when a silver car appeared on her property on the day when she was due to have her drive gravelled.

Her solution was to ask the delivery driver to dump the gravel immediately behind the offending car. She left a trowel on top, along with a note reading: "Happy digging, at least it's not raining".

When the shamefaced driver returned, he explained that he had permission from a nearby friend to use the drive, and had got confused about which was the right house.

The offender in this case claims to have made a genuine error and got confused about which house he should be parking in front of," she tells Metro.

"Unfortunately, after over ten years of putting up with lazy, obnoxious and rude, often threatening, people doing the this I no longer care if it's a genuine mistake or not."

Terrible parking

Having strangers park on your own drive is pretty extreme, but inconsiderate parking is common - and it's very tempting to speak your mind in a note.

Over the years, people have shared their responses to bad parking on social media.

"Thanks for parking across the path. It gives me the chance to be a movie star and slide across your hood now and then. Try it, it's awesome!" wrote one.

"Thanks for parking so close. Next time, leave a f*****g can-opener, so I can get my car out," advised another.

But it's worth making sure you have all the facts before getting on your high horse. Last year, we reported on how a disabled PhD student was insulted in a note left on her car in a Tesco car park.

While Sarah Metcalfe hadn't yet had her application for a Blue Badge approved, this isn't required by Tesco, and her fibromyalgia left her unable to cope with a long walk.

But she returned to her car to find a note reading: "Being fat and ugly doesn't count as disabled - park elsewhere".
