Cramped roads see fire services purchase slimmer engines

Fire services are having to invest in slimmer engines in order to be able to drive past large vehicles parked at the side of the road.

One of the latest brigades to look into this issue is the East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, after its crew recently had to abandon their vehicles and run to a severe blaze in Brighton on foot. Their route had been hampered by streets filled with cars parked on either side of the road.
