A woman has reportedly been sexually assaulted while on a flight from Dubai to New York.

The passenger told police she had take anti-anxiety medication on Emirates flight 203 on Monday.

According to Consumerist, when she awoke she found lotion on her arms, chest and legs and also realised her underwear had been tampered with.

The woman was understandably distraught and immediately told a flight attendant, who then called the police.

When the flight crew confronted the passenger, 42-year-old Nadeem Mehmood Quraishi, about the incident he said that he thought the passenger 'needed it' and she must have 'enjoyed it because she did not resist'.

The criminal complaint states: "The defendant also told the flight attendants that he liked it and that it happened to him as a child."

Mehmood, who lives in Staten Island, was arrested by members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force when the flight arrived at New York's JFK International Airport. He was charged with 'sexual contact without consent'.

The defendant was released from Brooklyn Federal Court on $50,000 bail. According to The Smoking Gun, he was ordered not to have any contact with the victim. Mehmood was also told to surrender his passport and not to leave New York City without pretrial service officials' permission.
