This is the moment a flash flood hit the desert plains of Utah in the United States recently.

The devastating flooding cost more than 20 people their lives, according to latest figures.

The footage shows what appears to be a dusty mud track leading into the mountains.

However, the scene quickly changes as a wave of brown mud, branches and filthy water starts rushing towards the camera.

The man recording the footage can be heard saying: "Hold your positions. Whoah, look at that, that is crazy!"

Despite a few green trees dotted on the landscape, it's clear to see very little water has graced this land for a long time.

As soon as the flood waters hit the track is filled with water as it brings all the debris along with it too.

The waters reach the end of the track and burst through on to the road, crossing straight over on to the other side of the way.

By the end of the footage the dirt track is long gone and the waters have created a briskly flowing river with a strong current throwing large logs and debris against metal road signs.
