Family holidays in the UK: Top destinations
Family holidays don't have to mean jetting off to the sunny beaches of Europe or the US. There are many beautiful places in the UK that will impress the whole family, from toddlers to teens.
Whether you're after a few days of relaxing at the seaside, a rural adventure with biking and hiking, or fancy experiencing a lively city, Britain offers everything you need for a family break. Cornwall, Dorset and Norfolk are some of the most popular places for families. In fact, new research from Blue Chip Holidays has found that these three destinations are favoured most by parents travelling with newborns on their first family holiday. With beaches, plenty of self-catering accommodation and child-friendly hotels, and lots to see and do, Cornwall, Dorset and Norfolk are ideal for families of all ages.
Meanwhile, Northumberland was recently named Britain's best family holiday destination by mums. Users on Mumsnet UK said the region has "something for everyone, and gets rave reviews for its beautiful clean beaches." But there are many places across the UK that are perfect for families, including the cities of Bath and Plymouth, which offer plenty of fun and museums galore. In North Wales, there are medieval castles, gardens, steam railways and mountains to discover. And the Isle of Wight offers magnificent coastal paths, treehouses and an alpaca farm!
