Driver arrested over hit-and-run incident after teenager fell from bridge onto M6

Lancashire police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after 16 year old Aaron Cook  died after falling from a bridge over the M6 motorway in Leyland, Lancashire before being hit by a vehicle that failed to stop. The incident took place around 11.30pm just past junction 28 on the M6 south at Leyland. He was seen to be stood on the wrong side of the footbridge when he fell into the carriageway. Four vehicles have swerved to avoid him but a fifth vehicle has collided with him as he lay in lane one of the carriageway. The driver failed to stop or report the incident. A 38 year old man from Stoke has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to notify police of an accident and is currently in police custody.
