Princess Anne turns down sea view for cheaper room on Scottish holiday

Frugal Princess Anne made a money-saving move on holiday in Scotland this week - by turning down a seaview room for a cheaper one.
Anne, who was staying at the four-star Manor House Hotel in Oban, Argyll, with her husband Vice Admiral Tim Laurence, said she didn't need an oceanfront room as she was arriving late and leaving early.
A spokesman for the hotel told the Daily Mail: She and her husband stayed one night and had dinner. She was very interested in the hotel and its history.
'It was a private visit and had been booked in advance. She did not sign the visitors' book but seemed to enjoy her stay.'
The princess and her husband - who retired from the Navy last August - are both keen sailors and keep a yacht at nearby at Ardfern on Loch Craignish in Argyll and Bute.
Anne had visited the town less than six months ago to help celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Royal burgh.
This time around, she was accompanied by two Royal bodyguards, who also booked a room each.
Prices for dinner, bed and breakfast start at £185, and low season rates for a seaview room are up to £225.
