Plus size fashion for the winter season

In these modern times, being a larger lady doesn't mean you're restricted to shapeless and unflattering clothes. From the High Streets to the catwalks of Milan, Paris and New York, curves are back - and that means a wealth of fabulous fashion to keep you warm (or should we say hot), glamorous and on trend this autumn and winter.

For the autumn season, cardigans are a must-have and a useful cover-up. Should the days stay warm, a charming but chic cardie means you can still wear your favourite summer floral prints whilst keeping out that evening chill.

You can change your cardigan look with a belt to make the most of those fabulous curves and mixing fabrics - jersey with denim, chiffon with wool and so on - is definitely hot so your look will stay fresh throughout the cold season.

Similarly, tunics are all the rage for the upcoming season. From simple designs through empire waistlines to V and embellished necklines, a tunic can really flatter your figure and can be dressed up or down making it a must-have for work or play but be sure to choose a length that is right for your body type.

Plus-size girls may shy away from the 'jeggings' trend. But tight trousers are in this winter and, teamed with a flattering tunic or well-tailored shirt, these figure-hugging trousers allow you to show off your curves rather better than the frumpy jeans you may usually opt for.

As for footwear, high boots will be all the rage - earthy colours in suede or leather are practical and chic so you're in luck if you splashed out on a pair last year and, if you're a lady who's confident about her legs, printed hosiery is perfect for the more flamboyant amongst you.

Of course, we haven't forgotten that all-important party-season dress - it's time to sparkle because it's all about embellishments so go with sequins or crystals in sumptuous purples and reds.

In the words of Gok Wan... "it's all about the confidence".
