Nottingham named as least car-dependent city

Nottingham has been named as the least car-dependent city in England, even beating London into second place.

The East Midland city picked up the title as it scored highly for bus usage, satisfaction with public transport and a low level of car use for the school run. It intends to push things further, with a widely-criticised workplace parking levy charging businesses up to £301 a year to park at work set to arrive in 2012.
