The 20 places with the most beautiful homes in the world have been revealed — and Malta, the Cotswolds and Tuscany have all made the list, thanks to their glorious head-turning properties.

Research conducted by the housing experts at Homedit.com surveyed 4,839 people, providing them with images of traditional houses from 20 different cities worldwide to find out which were the best.

Birgu — one of the oldest areas in Malta — was crowned the winner, with 79% of people saying that the houses in this area are completely breathtaking. In second place came Bibury, England, famed for its honey-hued stone cottages, while Tuscany in Italy rounded off the top three.

Other idyllic locations to make the list include Ghent in Belgium, Mykonos in Greece, and the beautiful French city of Paris.

Speaking about the traditional and cubic houses in Mykonos, the team add: "The Cycladic architecture allows homes to benefit from natural light and reduces sun absorption, whilst also maintaining their beautiful exteriors."
