The band‘s new album and follow-up to 2020’s Notes on a Conditional Form is set to come out on 14 October via Dirty Hit.

Ahead of the release of the album, frontman Matty Healy appears on the cover of Rolling Stone UK for an exclusive interview about the band’s return, which you can read here.

In the chat, he describes releasing the band’s new music as being like therapy. “You know, you go to therapy and you say, this is how I feel and this is about that and this is about that and this is about that,” he said. “And then they go, are you sure you don’t feel like this? And maybe it’s that’s actually about that. And you go fuckin hell yeah, money well spent. It’s the same process with putting a record out.

“I can say what I think it’s about and what it’s supposed to be about, but, you know, 100 people, let alone millions, are always going to be smarter and more perceptive than one person. So at this point in a campaign, you can probably see. I find it hard to talk about not because I’m particularly worried, but I just don’t really know what it is yet. I haven’t practised my spiel.”

Healy went on to describe the new album as “a continuation” from 2018 album A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships “in the way that it’s still about love and loss and smoking in the Internet age, how we communicate, how it’s mediated.”
