This 1934 Mercedes-Benz 500 K, with bodywork replicating the Special Roadster variant of the model, is on Bring a Trailer’s online auction block for one more day.
The tan-leather interior, with burgundy piping, was the creation of upholsterer Ken Dickman, whose artisanship has been showcased in cars that have won at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
The car is fit with a 5.1-liter, supercharged straight-eight engine.
During World War II, the car was essentially destroyed, with all that remained being a twisted chassis and frame, as well as a badly damaged engine.
The new owner will also receive a 190-page book and over 2,500 photos documenting the car’s history and restoration.
For the restoration’s exquisite bodywork, Minnesota-based Cass Nawrocki installed meticulously hand-formed steel panels over white ash framework.
The burgundy-trimmed dash features Veigel dials surrounded by imitation mother-of-pearl.
The car has won Best-in-Show awards at the Carmel Mission Classic, Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival, Park Place Luxury & Supercar Showcase, and the Keels & Wheels Concours d’Elegance.
Available online through auction house Bring a Trailer, this 1934 Mercedes-Benz 500 K currently has a high bid of more than $1.1 million.
