16 popular baby names experts predict will soon go out of fashion
Picking a baby name is hard, right? It needs to be something A) you like, B) your partner likes, C) your family doesn't hate, D) your child won't get teased for, and E) that will stand the test of time. No pressure, then.
We've got all the advice you need on the six things you should definitely do before choosing a baby name here, but if your biggest concern is ensuring that your child's name remains 'in vogue' throughout their life, then the following information will be very much of interest to you...
It's easy to become inspired by what's popular at the time you have your baby, but there are a group of names that are particularly favoured right now that are predicted to go out of fashion in the next decade. Having looked at the data and assessed the trends over the past five years, family history platform MyHeritage has pulled out the names in question, which they believe will soon be replaced by newer, unique names and old-fashioned ones that have come back around.
These 16 names have all proven very popular over the past few years, but have gradually started to dip in popularity between 2015 and 2019 (the most recent official baby name data we have). As a result, analysts predict they may all slip out of the top 100 list in the coming years.
