"This £12.99 mascara gives me an extreme lash lift and voluminous effect"

If you're an LVL super fan or a false lash diehard, then listen up – You may want to have a little rethink before booking your next in-salon appointment or even ditch those five-time worn falsies (please, do) because I've found a mascara dupe that'll give you the same effect as both but for just £12.99. It's both a money and time-saving hack. You're so welcome!

Not only that, but the product is by a beloved and trusted drugstore brand, so you can just pop down to your local Boots, Superdrug, (or even the pharmacy/Tesco) and there you will find the gem that is the L'Oréal Paris Pro XXL Lift Mascara.

The brand claims that the 2-step doubled-ended mascara, which is also infused with pro-keratin, allows you to have intense volume and a salon-like lash lift. One end of the tube has a straight brush, promising up to 17x (!!) volume and the other is curved for a 20° lift effect. Now, if my math do be mathing, that's something I'd only expect from a 45-minute professional appointment.

For years now (and I mean since peak Zoella YouTube days), the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara has been mine and Meghan Markle's favourite formula. I mean, me? Having the same taste in makeup as a Princess? Who'd of thought it, ey. So I knew finding a match would be a task.

Alas, although I had high expectations and was skeptical of the claims, I was more so intrigued, hence the reason for putting it through my very own test – reading a review simply wouldn't suffice, I had to try it for myself.

After taking the first bristled wand to my lashes, I was, in the words of *that* iconic TikTok sound, too stunned to speak. Next came the second round of confirmation (not that it was needed) with a swipe of brush number two. Side note: I usually opt for a plastic wand, so, to love a bristle brush this much means a lot, trust me.

Not to be dramatic but I think I may have found a new fave. Bold statement, I know but the drama and lift are just too good! So much so that I even have people commenting on the extreme volume of my lashes – shoutout to my colleague (you know who you are) who said that she couldn't stop gazing into my eyes... I mean, I do tend to have that effect on people, naturally, so I can't really blame her.

Admittedly, my lashes do naturally curl upwards so the hold test became sort of, shall we say, redundant, in my case. Though, friends and family members who have tried this mascara, per my recommendation, have loved it equally!

Oh, and guys, as the TikTok beauty influencer girlies say: this is not an ad. Just simply a love letter to my new right-hand man (read: the mascara).

P.S. Drugstore mascaras are the best and I will not hear otherwise.
