Fiver Fest – a two-week national celebration of Britain's small shops and independent businesses — will return on Saturday 10th October with an exciting line-up of shopping deals.

From bakeries to pet shops and book stores, small companies in 116 towns across the UK will offer shoppers special £5 deals as a way to help keep their independent businesses afloat — and attract new customers. The deals will run for two weeks.

According to research from Visa, 76% of shoppers believe their high street needs additional support, while 42% of small businesses say that the next three months are crucial to their survival.

Sadly, 29% of small business owners are not confident about the future, with a further 61% of shoppers admitting they could do more to support small businesses by shopping locally.

Dominic White, Head of Merchants and Acquirers at Visa, explained the importance of the event. He said: "We know that 2020 has been exceptionally challenging for small businesses so we're doubling down on our commitment of support.

"Visa is proud to work with Totally Locally in its mission to bring communities together, and we encourage all small businesses to sign up to Fiver Fest ahead of 10th October. The next three months will be such an important period for small businesses, so we are urging the nation to back the spirit of Fiver Fest and shop local, either online or offline, to help communities recover."

For the first time, Totally Locally is also creating a virtual shopping experience to help get local businesses online. The first three towns to launch initially include Hebden Bridge, Leek and Crickhowell, with many more towns to follow.

Whether you want to treat yourself or make a start on your Christmas shopping, there are plenty of ways to give your local high street the love it needs. Take a look at the towns taking part below...
