11 makeup brands you completely forgot existed

Ruby and Millie anybody?

Makeup artists Ruby Hammer and Millie Kendall launched their brand in Boots in 1998. In terms of makeup they were way ahead of their time with their clear packaged, wind up lip glosses and cheek tints. The brand was withdrawn from Boots in 2011.

Back in the day, Miners was your go to brand for seriously affordable makeup. My favourite product was their tinted lip balms which were called Tin o' Tints. If you thought the brand had disappeared altogether you might be surprised to hear that it's still available online.

If you were into beauty blogging back in the day you will know that Jemma Kidd's Light As Air Foundation was every blogger's holy grail. Sadly the line created by the makeup artist went into administration in 2012.

Were you really a '90s kid if you don't remember the infamous Hard Candy nail polishes with their plastic rings around the lid? The brand withdrew from the the UK but continued to be sold in the US and is still available online.

The early '00s was huge for Playboy merchandising thanks to the E! show, The Girls Next Door. Playboy makeup was available in Superdrug, and I for one used to love their eyebrow pencil. Sadly the line didn't last when Playboy lost popularity.

Bloom makeup is an Australian brand which began in 1993 when it's founder was inspired to create a line with natural ingredients. Bloom launched in Superdrug in the UK in 2009 but was phased out in 2012. However Bloom still exists in Australia and their website offers international shipping.

Accessorize beauty hasn't had the best time. It originally launched in 2011 in Superdrug stores with a range that included duo chrome nail polishes. The brand didn't last long and was discontinued, only to be relaunched in 2015. However the line has now disappeared from shelves for the second time round.

Versace makeup launched in 1998 but even though I used to save up all the money from my Saturday job to buy their lip glosses, it wasn't enough to stop the range being discontinued in 2009. I still live in hope that the brand and it's gaudy AF packaging will return.

Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts launched her own makeup range in 2008 after struggling to find makeup products pale enough for her skin tone. Despite finding a niche in the market, the brand was discontinued in 2013.

FashionistA was launched in Superdrug in 2011 and is one of the newer brands in this list. Designed to bring 'catwalk style to the high street' the brand was famous for their customisable palettes which could be filled with eyeshadows and blushes. The brand is now no more.

Makeup artist Sue Moxley launched her own name makeup brand exclusively in Superdrug in 2007. It was known for its metallic eyeshadows and star themed packaging. The brand was discontinued 4 years later in 2011.
