When it comes to the best yoga apps on iPhone and Android, you’re really spoilt for choice – which makes it that much harder to choose the right one to enhance your home yoga practice.

Which is why we’ve trawled Apple’s App Store and Google Play to bring you the best of the bunch, specific to your needs. Whether you’re a yoga beginner or a champion chaturanger, there’s one on this list for you. Most of these yoga apps feature some sort of subscription model, but if you’re looking for the best free yoga app, don’t click away just yet! All of our top picks offer free trials or some sort of free content – and there’s one that’s completely free, too. Told you, we got you.

Ready to get your flow on? Here are our top-rated yoga apps of 2020.

The best yoga apps of 2020

Best yoga app for practising with friends: FiiT

Whether you’re after blissfully zen flows or sweaty power yoga, FiiT’s Rebalance studio offers it all. The super-sleek classes form part of a variety of series that you could build into your own plans. For example, there’s Yoga Foundations with Cat Meffan for newbies, right through to Chris Magee’s Journey to a Headstand for more experienced yogis, not to mention a series of breath work classes with Richie Bostock, aka The Breath Guy (not strictly yoga, but so, so zen). FiiT’s USP: the ability to practise with your friends (virtually, of course). The app provides the function to host a group class, where you choose the class, date, time and guess list, so you can come to the mat with your mates. Much better than another Zoom quiz, we think.

There are also on-demand classes you can dip into at any time, with the likes of super-instructors Aditi Shah and Kristin McGee.

Here, you’ll find sessions that are less about core strength and backbends, and more about finding peace, dealing with grief and opening up your heart.

Best free yoga app: Yoga For Beginners

The inclusion of the occasional pop-up ad means you don’t have to pay a thing for Yoga for Beginners. You don’t even need to create an account. This yoga app features straightforward audio guidance and simple animations to guide you through basic flows. The lack of jargon and the labelling of each pose make it do make it pretty good for beginners – although the lack of flow between postures mean you’ll need to look elsewhere if you want guidance on transitions.
