According to John Lewis Pet Insurance customer data, many pet owners really do feel that their animals are truly part of the family, with human names often being chosen for their pet.
The research has revealed the most popular dog and cat names of 2018 and it turns out that more traditional names once given to dogs and cats, such as Fido, Rover or Fluffy, are not holding the same sway.
Instead, Poppy was found to be the favourite dog’s name, while Bella was the most popular name for cats. Floral names also seem to be on-trend. Some of the favourites have proved popular for both cats and dogs, overlapping on the lists, such as Daisy, Molly and Poppy.
