I don't know what's harder, dealing with blackheads, or dealing with my unhealthy TikTok addiction.

However, sometimes worlds collide and my obsession with 15-second videos pays off and results in discovering a whole new method of blackhead removal.

Of course this all started off where all good skincare things start, Hyram.

There I was, binge scrolling Hyram videos and practicing my shoulder shakes, when he shared a dermatologists tip for getting rid of blackheads, that works far better than any pore strip ever could.

You see as addictive as they also are, pore strips are really not the way forward when it comes to blackhead removal. That's because while it's essentially impossible to minimise a pore, it's easy as hell to enlarge one.

So when you remove your hardened strip, you are essentially stretching your pores that little bit wider and if you're an avid user, that action will definitely enlarge your pores over time.

Step in Dr Shah, aka the Derm Doctor on TikTok, who recommends using The Ordinary's Salicylic Acid Mask to deal with clogged pores and blackheads.

Instead of the dreaded pore strip, Dr Shah recommends applying a layer of the mask to your clogged area and leaving for 10 minutes. Wash off with water and repeat once a week.

Of course, the mask is currently sold out EVERYWHERE, but we will be patiently waiting for it to come back into stock, whilst scrolling through the rest of Dr Shah's content of course.
