Fun as they can be, the six-week summer break (and longer, if your children attend public school) does require parents to get creative. Particularly in the UK, where the weather isn't always on our side and sunny outdoor plans can turn into a wash out faster than you can say 'National Trust garden', new ideas for places to visit and things to do are always welcome.

Luckily, Uswitch.com, the comparison and switching service, have analysed the best eco-friendly attractions for parents and children to enjoy.

To create the top 10 list, USwitch analysed over 34,000 four and five-star reviews of eco-friendly attractions in the UK were analysed, with six categories ranked to determine a score out of 100 for each attraction: enjoyability, family compatibility, food availability, affordability, conservation and eco-friendly components and cleanliness.

The attraction ranking in first place, with 71 points out of a possible 100, is GreenWood Family Park based in Gwynedd, Wales. This gigantic playground nestled beneath the trees of Snowdonia’s National Park boasts tunnels, mazes and trails for kids, plus magic shows and crafts.

With myriad walking trials, an enchanted river ride and visits from Peppa Pig and PAW Patrol, GreenWood is no stranger to accolades and often ranks highly in top attraction lists.

This woodland discovery park in Herne, near Canterbury, features over fifty species of native British animals such as deer, badgers, wild boar, wolves and brown bear. The trust put on a range of events and activities for visiting families throughout the year, too.
